These women are total rockstars!  You know Gigi has an adorable piebald dachshund, but did you know Jane Green had standards growing up?  Yep, another dachshund lover.  I think Schatze recognized that fact with Jane.

So no doggy pcitures today.  I am at SXSW for a few days and being a good mom, I helped my son get some pictures with people.

The first on is with Boot Riley, the next one is David (my son),  Lyndal Golding from the Specials (my husband is the other guy) , the new release post stamp with Jimi Hendrix and well, of course, Slash.

My work here is done.

So THIS happened.

From my son after a stress filled day at his job in the music industry.  

I'm stressed and tired in the elevator after work tonight and an elderly woman wearing a trippy outfit gets on the elevator and first thing she says is "are you having fun?" I respond back "ya, sure," thinking thats an odd way to start a conversation, and she goes "the one thing I have learned in all my years on this planet is that life is about fun," I go "ok I hear ya on that," and then she says "us meeting was supposed to happen tonight so I can tell you this: music will make you happier than anything else in this life, go listen to something, go play something, let music bring you joy in your life" and with that she got off the elevator and went off into the night.....never met this lady in my life, she knew nothing about me, wasn't wearing any band clothing, and says that.....I didn't know that was what I needed to hear tonight til this woman said it to me, so thank you, universe, for these random droppings of surreal sh!t you throw into life, it definitely keeps things interesting.

Poor Schatze just had a bunch of teeth taken out plus a tumor removed and looks like she lost a prize fight.  She is really hurting right now, but should be good in ten days or so.  This has really wrecked my budget, so if you really want to help me out, click on the ads at the top of my page which I get paid a few cents for.  We would really appreciate it!   I will be back blogging in full force just as soon as she is feeling better.

Well, Schatze had an eventful week.

On Sunday, her ear were swollen like pillow, which required a trip to the vet.  I think she may have been bit by a wasp since they were in the grass everywhere Saturday. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her, so after some Benadryl, her ears went back to normal in 48 hours.

Tuesday, she uncovered a nest of mice.  I have since put rocks over the hole in the ground.  She promptly dug them up and moved them.  I put them back again and put up a little fence around it.  Let's hope that stays.

Wednesday, she caught a bird.  That is why she is wearing the Pig costume. I want to embarrass her.  She tried to bring the bird in the house.  I think as a gift or peace offering.  Um, no, thank you.

See!  I dug a really nice hole trying to get at the squirrel I chased!  

Schatze spent about 10 minutes digging and I finally had to pick her up to get her out of the dirt. 

She did end up catching two babies this week but I got them away from her before she could hurt them.  

FURday PhoDOGraphy has gone to the birds.

The hummingbirds are ready to leave the nest since they are now bigger than the nest.  I know it is hard to see, but there are actually two birds there.

More nesting birds at the park:  these are cormorants and they look very happy to be in this sycamore tree!  I watched them do a little mating dance complete with preening and major squawking.

AND a Great Blue Heron which had just snacked on a frog, so there was no interest in Schatze. 

Schatze could care less.

AMAZING!  

There are two baby hummingbirds in this nest.  

They are so well camouflaged, they are hard to see.

You have to look up towards the top middle of the picture!

They have doubled in size in just a week.
