Interview Giveaway IN BED WITH A ROGUE by SAMANTHA GRACE @SamGraceAuthor @SourcebooksCasa

1. Do you have a secret talent?
Hmm… I don’t know if this counts as a talent, but I’m good with voice recognition. Even if I’ve only spoken with someone once, I can usually recognize him or her on the phone. Then again, I thought my cat was my daughter calling out for me the other day, so maybe I’m not so great at it after all. 

2. Is there a song that really reminds you of your book?
I know some authors have playlists or theme songs for their books, but I’ve only had two instances when I’ve associated a song with one of my books. I think this is a fun question, however, so I started thinking about what song would fit and “I’m Sexy and I Know it” popped into my head. It’s the perfect theme song for Sebastian, because he is sexy and he knows it, but he is also playful and not afraid to look silly if it means entertaining others.

3. What was the easiest thing about writing this book?
I think it was typing “the end”. I loved the characters from the start. I love the story. I knew what needed to happen to resolve the tension and worry created for Sebastian in the previous book, but this was a hard book to write. I really can’t put my finger on why this one was a struggle, but I’m so pleased with the overall result.

4. Is there a word you love to use?
Asinine. It seems appropriate for a lot of situations.

5. Any real or imaginary pets?
We have a coonhound mix named Dani that we adopted nine years ago, and a 12-year-old calico cat named Mattie. Of course, they get different names when we take a trip to the vet. We have the Nervous Drooler and Kitty Crabbypants.

Thanks so much for having me here today. This was a lot of fun. I look forward to chatting with everyone. I love these questions and wondered if I could ask readers what their secret talent is. (WARNING: It will no longer be a secret after today.)

Giveaway Interview HIS EVERY NEED by TERRI L AUSTIN @TerriLAustin @SourcebooksCasa #blogtour

PLEASE WELCOME TERRI TO BOOKHOUNDS!

Thanks so much for having me on today! I’m excited to be here.

1. Do you have a secret talent?

I have a nose like a bloodhound. Sometimes, it’s a very irritating gift to have. There are odors out there I don’t want to smell, and yet, I have no choice, because of my insanely sensitive olfactories. Curse this wretched gift!

2. Is there a song that really reminds you of your book?

I love standards. Love them. This book makes me think of the Gershwin tune, “They Can’t Take That Away From Me.” The Tony Bennett version.

3. What was the easiest thing about writing this book?

Trevor’s voice spoke to me so frequently, I knew him inside and out. He was fun to write. Very dry, British, arrogant. But clever and funny, too.

4. Is there a word you love to use?

Hoo ha. No explanation needed, right?

5. Any real or imaginary pets?

No, but if I had an imaginary pet it would be hedgehog. My fantasy hedgehog would eat rainbow marshmallows and raisins, just because. And I’d call him Cuddles. Cuddles the Imaginary Hedgehog. We’d go for walks. People would stop and wave. Wait, what was the question?

His Every Need (Beauty and the Brit) by Terri L Austin

His Every Need, the first book in The Beauty and the Brit series, is available from Sourcebooks August 5, 2014.

Allie Campbell is determined to take care of her family, no matter the cost. But when her father loses their home to British tycoon Trevor Blake, Allie finds herself forced to plead for more time to pay off the loan...and if she has to use her own body as collateral, then so be it.
Trevor isn't moved by Allie's story. But when Allie impulsively offers to do anything to keep the house, he's intrigued enough to raise the stakes: for the next two months, she must cater to his every need, no matter how depraved. To his amazement, she agrees.
Allie has no intention of enjoying her time with the arrogant, domineering Brit, but it doesn't take long before he's got her aching for his touch-and he'll do whatever it takes to make her beg...

“Austin, clearly enjoying a change of pace from her more comedic Rose Strickland mystery series, infuses her characters with relatable problems and hot chemistry that will keep readers turning pages.”Publishers Weekly

“…this is an engaging work on a number of levels—the sum total is a novel that is unique, erotic and passionate.”RT Book Reviews, 4 ½ Stars, Top Pick!

PLEASE WELCOME MICHELE TO BOOKHOUNDS

1. What is the first book you remember reading by yourself as a child?

The Lonely Doll by Dare Wright. I would read that book over and over again. I was fascinated by the black and white photography and I LOVED that doll. Used to wish I looked like her. (Still have the book today)

2. What are you reading right now?

First Love, by James Patterson; The Bride Says No, by Cathy Maxwell; The Silver Linings Playbook, by Matthew Quick; Various States of Undress: Carolina, by Laura Simcox

3. How does your garden grow?

Right now, my garden grows pansy planted by my daughter, peonies, gardenia bushes and lots of herbs, especially rosemary. Nothing is blooming the way I’d like, but my lack of green thumb could be the problem.

4. What is the last thing you Googled?

Havaianas…my all-time, most favorite thong (not underwear…flip-flops). Used to wear them every day when I lived in Miami. They come in great colors and really last. Time for a new pair, baby!

5. What makes you cringe?

Eggs. Yep, ever since I can remember. I’m talking fried eggs, over easy eggs, soft-boiled eggs, eggs benedict, green eggs and ham. Have always hated breakfast eggs. Something about the runny texture, smell, taste…ugh, I need to stop. My poor kids will never know an appreciation for eggs for breakfast.

Thank you so much for hosting me! Your questions were fun and entertaining.

Giveaway Interview HOW TO LOSE A LORD In 10 days or Less by ELIZABETH MICHELS @southerntart @sourcebookscasa

"I want to know you, to understand anything at all about you, because you are the most maddening lady I have ever encountered."
He's the perfect gentleman...
After years hidden away from the mockery of the Ton, proud Andrew Clifton, Lord Amberstall, is finally ready to face Society again. But when his horse is injured on the road to London, Andrew finds himself literally thrown at the feet of the beautiful, infuriating, and undeniably eccentric Katie Moore.
...she's anything but a lady.
Katie always preferred the stables to society, so when she was badly injured in a riding accident, she was more than happy to retreat to the countryside and give up the marriage mart for good. She never expected an infuriatingly proper lord to come tumbling into her life - and she certainly never expected to find herself wondering what it would be like to rejoin the world at his side.
They couldn't be more different, and soon Andrew and Katie find themselves at odds about everything but the growing passion between them... and a keen awareness of a threat that may end their unconventional romance before it has even begun.

PLEASE WELCOME ELIZABETH TO BOOKSHOUNDS

1. Do you have a secret talent?

Oh, I have so many! What to choose? *winks* My thumbs are double jointed, so if I ever get arrested, I won’t be handcuffed very long. I’m really good at painting, not on canvas or anything. But, if you need a room in your house painted, I’m your girl. And, I’m known for my cooking. I often get special requests for food when friends and family come to visit.

2. Is there a song that really reminds you of your book?

I always have a song that happens to resonate with the characters of the book I’m writing. I’ll find myself listening to it when I first sit down at my laptop. I can’t listen to anything with words while I write, or I’ll start singing along instead of writing. But, I like to begin working with a song that puts me in the writer zone. For HOW TO LOSE A LORD IN 10 DAYS OR LESS it was Demons by Imagine Dragons. Andrew and Katie are both trying to overcome painful pasts in completely opposing ways. The lyrics to this song seemed to capture their struggles to find happiness and ultimately love.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWRsgZuwf_8

3. What was the easiest thing about writing this book?

The conversations between Andrew and Katie. These two characters are different in every way imaginable and yet they’re paths in life are very similar. They disagree on most subjects, but when they push past what’s on the surface, they find a tentative friendship is waiting beneath their dislike for one another. There’s always a point in a book where the characters take over and begin to tell their own story, and in HOW TO LOSE A LORD IN 10 DAYS OR LESS that happens when Andrew finally cracks and visits Katie at her cottage. Katie is an unconventional lady who insists on living in the old gamekeeper’s cottage on her father’s property. Andrew couldn’t be more opposed to being unconventional. He’s a proper gentleman and abides by every rule in the book, until he’s stranded on Katie’s estate for 10 days. But, after a few days together, neither of their lives will be the same again. I love these characters, their chemistry, and their dialogue—I hope you do too.

4. Is there a word you love to use?

I love verbs. The simple beauty of an action has a larger meaning to me than a thousand nouns could ever produce. Some of my favorites are navigate, vanquish, and implore. Shampoo and yodel also make my favorites list even though I can’t really use them in a Regency set historical romance. Although, I could write a yodeling heroine at some point. She sounds like a quirky character I would write. *grins*

5. Any real or imaginary pets?

It’s funny that you would ask. Although I don’t currently have any pets, I had a black lab whom I loved dearly. He passed away a few years ago and I haven’t been able to bring myself to replace him, mostly because there is no replacing him. When I started writing this book, I knew that a key piece to the story would be Andrew’s horse who is injured on the road south from Scotland. His horse is the reason he’s stranded on Katie’s property, as well as, the reason he fled to Scotland to begin with two years ago. (If you read MUST LOVE DUKES, you may remember the scandal that forced him to leave town.) What I didn’t realize when I started writing this book was that as I wrote the story, Andrew’s horse took on the personality of my dog. The way he would look away and huff when he didn’t like what I was saying, down to the nudge of his head when he wanted my attention. I’d written my dog into this story only living on as a horse. I think he would be pleased. *grins*

Giveaway Interview MEET THE EARL AT MIDNIGHT by GINA CONKLE @GinaConkle @SourcebooksCasa

Book Description

 May 6, 2014
It's going to take a Beast to tame this Beauty

The Enigma Earl. The Lord Phantom. That's what the gossip pages call Lord Greenwich, a mysterious nobleman who doesn't show his face in London Society. With a reputation like that, it's no wonder that Lydia Montgomery is horrified to be dragged from bed and packed off to live with him to save her mother from penury.
While Lydia has received all of the training a lady should endure, she's decidedly un-ladylike. She despises her corset and isn't interested in marriage; in fact, she would prefer to remain unmarried so that she can spend her time improving her art. But if she wants a chance at happiness, she'll have to set aside her fear of Lord Greenwich and discover the man hiding behind the beast.

An excerpt:

I call this the “Why not come here and find out?” excerpt…

She cleared her throat trying for seriousness. “Let me assure you, my lord, that today’s behavior is most unusual for me. I am not a snoop.” She emphasized the not with all starch.
“Words, Miss Montgomery, mere words. You’ve been full of assurances and light on action since I met you last night.” He crossed his arms over his chest; pale sunlight filtered through clouds and touched him everywhere.
Not toying…flirting? At least his version of flirtation.
“I’m in your home, aren’t I? Awaiting your pleasure.” The prim fold of her hands knocked any salaciousness from her words.
“True.” He nodded. “But there is an axiom in science, a law of nature if you will that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I think that applies here…call it a consequence to one’s behavior.” Then, his gaze flicked over her head to toe. His eyebrows pressed together as if something bothersome came to mind.
“Is something wrong, milord?”
“Come here.” He spoke with his lordly, commanding tone.
Warning bells went off in her head.
Lydia rooted to the spot. “I…what do you want?”
“For you to come here.” One side of his mouth slid up. “In fact, I’d find it refreshing if you did whatever I asked the first time I issued a command.”
“Wha…” Eyes rounding, Lydia couldn’t finish the word in her indignation.
“Please.” He added, tipping his head in gentleman’s fashion.
His high and mighty lordliness had the upper hand, but he softened the advantage with that please.
“What are you going to do?”
“Why not come here and find out?” Eyes sparkling, he challenged her.

PLEASE WELCOME GINA TO BOOKHOUNDS

1. Do you have a secret talent?

Yes, when I take the time, I’m a great cook. My husband calls those my “big production meals.” Sometimes they’re fattening and bad for you, and sometimes I can pull off healthy and something that tastes good (no easy feat with my teenage sons).

2. Is there a song that really reminds you of your book?

Most of the time I listened to ambient music with rainfall in the background, but I listened to Debussy’s “Clair de Lune” a few times. “Clair de Lune” makes me feel this story.

3. What was the easiest thing about writing this book?

Understanding the characters and their passions. Then the fun came with their banter…so unexpected. Some great scenes weren’t planned but simply happened: 1) the 3 atonements proposition 2) the “offer you can’t refuse” from Lady E. to Lydia and 3) the following scene that resulted in the “egg and spoons” scene

The other easy thing was some of the opening scene lines just rolled onto the page. They were quirky, insightful, and made me smile.

4. Is there a word you love to use?

Sliver came up with this story.

5. Any real or imaginary pets?

In this story, none. In real life, I have two rescue mutts, Jefe (Spanish for “boss”) and Oriville who I like to call Mr. Bossy Pants. Funny that you mention “imaginary” because there is a black draft horse named Agnar in my first Viking novel (Norse Jewel). We’re moving this summer, and I informed my husband I’d like to have my own Agnar if we end up with lots of land. We’ll see what happens.

About the Author

Barbara DeLeo’s first book, co-written with her best friend, was a story about beauty queens in space. She was eleven, and the sole, handwritten copy was lost years ago, much to everyone’s relief. It’s some small miracle that she kept the faith and is now living her dream of writing sparkling contemporary romance with unforgettable characters.

After completing degrees in Psychology and English then travelling the world, Barbara married her winemaker hero and had two sets of twins.

She still loves telling stories about finding love in all the wrong places, with not a beauty queen or spaceship in sight.

Find Barbara and her books here:

PLEASE WELCOME BARBARA TO BOOKHOUNDS!

What is the first book you remember reading by yourself as a child?

“The Enchanted Wood” by Enid Blyton. We used to visit my grandparents every holiday and the three of us kids would squeeze Granddad out of bed and Gran would read us Enid Blyton stories. My Gran’s name was Enid too and I always had a secret fantasy she was leading a double life J

I’m not sure how old I was when I read “The Enchanted Wood” but I ended up reading it and the other books in the series over and over. I was so excited when my own kids got to read them.

What are you reading right now?

I’m a big Sarah Mayberry fan and have just finished “Her Best Worst Mistake” and now I’m on to “Hot Island Nights”

 How does your garden grow?

Too quickly! When we had our second set of twins we knew we’d need a LOT of space so we bought a house with half an acre of garden. It’s a back section so completely private and there’s a lot of lawn and roses and a vegetable garden. It’s summer here in New Zealand and the roses are looking gorgeous right now.

What is the last thing you Googled?

The name of the guy who plays the character of Inigo Montoya in “The Princess Bride”. I love that movie!

What makes you cringe?

The thought that there’s two weeks until Christmas and I haven’t bought one gift yet.
