After a wrenching loss, Ben McDaniel tried to escape his grief by working in dangerous, war-torn places like Africa and the Middle East. Now he's back in his hometown and face-to-face with Aubrey Wellington, the hot-as-hell woman who is trouble with a capital T. Family and friends insist she's not the one to ease his pain, but Aubrey sparks an intense desire that gives Ben hope for the future.
Determined to right the wrongs of her past, Aubrey is working hard to make amends. But by far, the toughest challenge to her plan is sexy, brooding Ben - even though he has absolutely no idea what she's done . . .
Can this unlikely couple defy the odds and win over the little town of Lucky Harbor?

MY THOUGHTS
ABSOLUTLEY LOVED IT
Aubrey has survived a major scandal, lost her job and her boyfriend and has now taken over her aunt's bookstore in between the flower shop and bakery while trying to make a new life for herself. She had a "reputation" as a teen, some of it deserve, some of it not. She wanders into an AA meeting by accident and stays long enough to take in one of the steps that requires making amends to those you have wronged, so she starts a list. On her list are several locals, that won't accept her apology but she is going to try until she succeeds.
Ben has lost his wife five years ago and has finally moved back to Lucky Harbor after travelling the world helping others. He is the golden boy of the area and no one wants to see him end up with Aubrey. When her uncle hires Ben to renovate the book store, the two are in constant contact. Ben sees through her "perfect" veneer and tries to find out if her wild reputation is actually based in fact. Throw in some family issues, a town full of nosy neighbors and immense chemistry between the pair and you have a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
I have no idea how Jill Shalvis does it. I swear I am just going to read a chapter and then find myself three hours in without even noticing the time. This series is just full of interesting characters and even thought the characters appears steadily in each book, you can easily pick up any one and read it in any order. There is a perfect mix of dialogue, romance and chemistry that will make you tear through each one.
