Colony Tour

The ColonyThe Colony by Cami Checketts

To protect her sons from the mistakes of her past, Brinlee Trapper escapes to a secluded mountain home. But there are dangers lurking in the mountains she has never encountered. The little family is saved from injury by Jed, a mysterious hunter. Brinlee is drawn to him, but she worries about his involvement with a peaceful commune hidden deep in the mountains behind her property.

Lance, Brinlee’s attentive neighbor, has his own troubled history. Between his obvious attraction to Brinlee and his developing love for her children, Brinlee finds it more than difficult to guard her heart against this tender intrusion.

While Jed offers a life of excitement and freedom, Lance holds the key to the family Brinlee always wanted. When it comes time to choose, she learns that both men have secrets that could shatter her fledgling trust in men and the wrong decision could leave more than her heart exposed to danger.

1. Do you have a secret talent?

I can bake bread and fifty percent of the time it turns out. I hate following recipes, which accounts for half the loaves being hard as a rock (no worries, my boys will eat anything). Maybe if I started following a recipe we’d be up to a sixty percent success rate.

2. Is there a song that really reminds you of your book?

Phillip Phillips – “Home” Brinlee’s really searching for that stability and comfort of home. I can almost hear one of the men in the book (can’t give away which one) saying, “Settle down, it’ll all be clear. . . Just know you’re not alone, Cause I’m going to make this place your home.”

3. What was the easiest thing about writing this book?

You’re telling me there’s something easy about writing a book? That’s so good to hear, hopefully I’ll find it someday.
Okay, I’m thinking the easiest to write were the romance scenes. They just spilled out of my fingers and I’d go back and read them and be like, Oooh, that’s good!

4. Is there a word you love to use?

Sweet. Sweet girl, sweet boy, sweetheart. Sweet! (like my 15yo would say) Maybe deep inside I really am sweet.

5. Any real or imaginary pets?

Haha! Don’t my boys wish. My honey is severely allergic so even though we live on six acres we are sadly lacking in the pet department. I grew up with a Great Dane named Mate. He went with me on every run and was my protector. Whenever I think of a pet, I remember my buddy Mate. Oh, man, you’ve got me feeling guilty, my poor boys and their lacking childhood.
