goodlookinA Good-Lookin' Man by Marcia Lynn McClure

Excerpt

However, in an instant—in less than a breath or the bat of an eyelid—the elusive pepper spray hiding somewhere in her purse was all but forgotten. For standing before her—right there before her, not three feet away—was the best-looking, most gorgeous, handsomest man she had ever seen in all her life!

“No, seriously,” she thought out loud with lingering bewilderment at how perfectly stunning the man standing before her was, wearing a worn pair of Levi’s, dusty cowboy boots, and a short-sleeved, plaid-print, snap-up shirt that hung open, revealing a bronzed, perfectly sculpted torso that was simply a mass of muscles. She was so unsettled by the man’s appearance that she wasn’t sure whether she was whispering aloud to herself or her car.

Either way, the man asked, “Beg your pardon, ma’am?”

“Oh…oh, nothing,” Fairlee said as she began rummaging in her purse again. But the man’s presence and appearance had entirely rattled her. As her awe-inspired brain obviously quit sending out instructions to the rest of her body, Fairlee felt her purse slip from her hands—watched in humiliated dismay as its contents tumbled out and scattered over the shoulder of the road.

MY THOUGHTS
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT

Fairlee Jones is half way through college when she decides she needs a break.  She has not had good luck with any of the boy she has dated.  Her high school boyfriend cheated on her, her college romance disintegrated after just a few month since there was no spark and she just can't seem to meet anyone interesting.  Heading off to her aunt and uncle's house in Colorado, she is just five miles away when her car dies and there is no cell service.  But this damsel in distress has a knight in shining armor to rescue her in the form of the local vet.  Lash Lantry stops by to help and while Fairlee is considering her options for escape.

This adorable romance is filled with wonderful dialogue and balanced with just the right amount of descriptions.  Of course Lash is the gorgeous guy who can't seem to find the right girl to settle down with and Fairlee is quite certain no one will ever love since she has a habit of talking to herself -- out loud.  She knows she is weird and for that Lash loves her.  The conversations she has with herself are priceless and full of humor.

I hadn't quite planned on reading this in one sitting but once I started it, it was hard to put it down. I even had to read the author's notes about how the story came about and the facts behind certain situations and characters -- all based on something from the author's life.   If you are looking for a sweet and funny little romance, you can't go wrong with this one.

  2. Yes, great review and thanks for bringing this book to our attention. So Marcia is from Albuquerque, NM, huh? I'm Las Cruces myself and even went to NMSU for history and English majors. Love the New Mexico skies--they are the absolute best! And since I love western romance, I'm sure glad to "meet" Marcia and her writing. Thanks! jdh269-0@gmail.com
