Waiting on Wednesday: Small Damages by Beth Kephart @PenguinTeen

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Book Description

July 19, 2012
Juno meets Under the Tuscan Sun

It's senior year, and while Kenzie should be looking forward to prom and starting college in the fall, she discovers she's pregnant. Her determination to keep her baby is something her boyfriend and mother do not understand. So she is sent to Spain, where she will live out her pregnancy, and her baby will be adopted by a Spanish couple. No one will ever know.

Alone and resentful in a foreign country, Kenzie is at first sullen and difficult. But as she gets to know Estela, the stubborn old cook, and Esteban, the mysterious young man who cares for the horses, she begins to open her eyes, and her heart, to the beauty that is all around her, and inside her. Kenzie realizes she has some serious choices to make--choices about life, love, and home.

Lyrically told in a way that makes the heat, the colors, and the smells of Spain feel alive, Small Damages is a feast for the heart and the soul, and a coming-of-age novel not easily forgotten.

  2. This sounds like an interesting story. Having worked at a crisis pregnancy center for 20 years, I know how difficult it can be for young girls.

  5. When I saw the cover I had to think of one of those stupid movies..

It was a comedy and there was a guy.. They had dinner at his - they being him, his girlfriend and their friends - and he wants to go to the kitchen to get some beer, when he hears his girlfriend and her friends talking about orgasms and how often they fake one. He then listens to her faking an orgasm and from that point on tries to really satisfy her, reading about the physical changes (like breasts swelling, toes curling etc) and actually bought 10 oe 20 oranges and has them stored below his bed. So when they do have sex, he's like.. *touching her boob before & compare with orange* .. *touching her boob while she appears to be coming and comparing it again*

The whole movie was so horrible that I can't help but snort whenever I see this cover. XD
