October Re Cap

Another good month, but I am going to have to pick it up to make my goal of 250!  I read and reviewed 20 books last month.  I have another five or so that I have read and need to review.  If only I could review them as fast as I read....sigh......

  1. How can you possibly read so many books?!? Do you work outside the home? I am just curious. If I manage more than 10 a month I feel like I am doing good!

  2. Julie -- I read about 300 pages every night and more if I really like a book. I don't work (well, do housework and gardening count?) so I do get to read more than most. I also started listening to audio books while I work around the house. I started blogging since I couldn't afford to buy every book I want! I also don't watch much TV, although I do admit to a reality fascination.

  3. What I try to do to keep up my reading pace of 2-3 books per week is look at the total page count once I start a book and divide it by 3, then I know how many pages I need to read each day. I work full-time, but I do get to read on the bus back & forth to work. And I don't watch much tv either--right now the only series I follow is Grey's Anatomy. And yes, of course, housework and gardening count--I consider those chores my "unpaid" jobs!

  4. What a great month! I think you read a wide variety too and being able to intersperse the YA with the adult always helps break things up! When you're listening to audiobooks around the house, do you use an ipod type device or are you moving a cd player around with you? I've tried using our entertainment center, then I realize I've gone too far out of range for too long!

  5. Julia - I have a little ancient iPod that I use. If I shut it off just right it keeps my place. I did have a horrible accident with the garden clippers once. I wasn't paying attention and cut right through the headphone wires. It does take my twice as long to listen to a book than to read it since I can't speed up the sound.

  6. Well, at least it was just the headphone wires!
