  9. Bookmarked by memory? Good lord, not me. :) And as far as reading in the tub goes, I like my books too much to trust my motor skills near bodies of water while holding one.

  11. Favorite place to read? Just about anywhere! In bed, the comfy chair in the livings room, a chair on the deck, etc.

The one place I don't read is the bathtub, I'm a shower person.

Number of books? I've never counted but hundreds for sure. Several hundred less now that I have my Kindle.

  12. Enjoyed the 20 question interview.

No dogears in a book of mine---I use a bookmark.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well, that was short and (mostly) painless. I was a bit boggled by the favorite place to read question---not so much that it was the bathtub, per say... but that implied you actually BATHED! Startling the things such interrogative questions can reveal! This left me wanting more, like "Who does your hair?" "Which 'Sex and the City' girl are you most like?" "Potatoes or stuffing?" "Boxers or briefs...or THONG?" (The age-old question "Ginger or Maryann?" is pointless...because I know you fancy Mrs. Howell... As do I!)

    CHEERS!

  14. Hmm. You may have to change your reading habits, Scott, once you have a Kindle. At least, don't drop it in the bathtub!
And I just read The Red Church killed Sharon's Kindle!?

  18. Memory?! I've got to get one of those. Loved the 20 questions interview. Quite entertaining. Also nice to see that a few other folks were stumped by the memory bookmark. I do agree that the tub is a good place to read, books can always dry out. ;-)

  19. I'm impressed that Slaughterhouse-5
inspired you to write. I love that book and I think Vonnegut is a genious.

  20. I can't believe that you read in the bathtub. I'm always afraid I'll drop the book. Or the e-reader (if I get one). Yikes! Of course maybe that's because I read library books. *LOL*

  21. Uh, Mr. Nicholson, The question said "first book you REMEMBER reading" and the answer you gave is the first book you clearly don't remember reading! ...some comic book.... I think you 'owe' us a better answer!

Mine is ... probably some dinosaur book. (Hey, I don't remember the title but it is the one that everyone had at that time -with the T Rex on the cover. You know the one. It was probably just called Dinosaurs, come to think of it.)

    And by 'Memory' you clearly mean your Kindle's memory, right? I hear you. {wink}

    Loving/hating discovering the new-to-me blogs.

  22. Amazing you can read “bookmarkless.” Unless I finish a chapter, I’m lost when I do it that way. Actually, here’s my dirty little secret: sometimes I use a square of toilet paper for a bookmark. Just fold it in half and, tada! Bookmark.

    Okay, said too much.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I gave up on bookmarks as well. My books are usually tossed around too much for them to hold the right place.

    Scott, too!

  27. Fun post to read. Dr. Seuss may very well be my favorite author, too (which may explain why "quirky" also describes my favorite genre.

  29. Favorite genre is quirky? What is the best quirky novel you've ever read?

  30. Working at the library, we usually have to cancel one or two books a month because they've been dumped in the bath tub . . . at least we hope it was the bathtub . . . or soaked in coffee . . . at least we hope its coffee . . . anyway, accidents do happen.

Sometimes they don't get caught when a book is discharged so the formerly wet books gets to sit next to a bunch of other innocent books and share its new found mold cultures.

We once lost three books because one moldy book, its pages wavy with former wetness share its black-green mold with a neighbor on either side.

    Thank you,

  31. Loved the 20 questions. It's bookmarks for me...I hate to harm a page.

  32. @Jeff always Beatles

@sharon, I've heard Amazon has great customer service!

@RabidFox, I only read books in the tub that are old paperbacks or one-shot reads

@Monster box/brief--more likely to go au natural

@icedreamed I read a lot of Vonnegut in my teen years

@hendy by quirky, I'd say stuff like Richard Brautigan, Jonathan Lethem, Vonnegut, Lolita, surprising, maddening stuff that you're never quite sure what to make of it. Stuff beyond the typical genre books that are primarily "safe storytelling" and books that edge into literary subversiveness (like I hope my new novel "As I Lie Dying" does)

  33. Scott, I can't believe you don't use a book mark! I have so many books going at once, I'd be lost without bookmarks!
