Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (Book Review 2010-57)

Product Description

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf--her wolf--is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

ABSOLUTELY ADORED/LOVED IT

Don't wait to read this book like I did since this book lives up to all of the hype.  Told through the two points of view of Sam and Grace, the story follows their romance and has a twist at the ending.  I have to admit I try to guess the endings and I was caught off guard by this one.  Just be aware that there is a sequel.  I am not going to spoil it, so you will just have to read it yourself.

This is not another generic werewolf book as it builds up to were part through wolves.  The writing is what makes all the difference in this story.  The writing is lyrical -- it almost sings to you.
This book is suited for older teens since the main characters are all almost 18 and there are some sexual situations.  Overall, this is just a fabulous read.  If you enjoy Stephanie Meyer, Kristin Cashore or Becca Fitzpatrick, you will enjoy this one.
