Defenders of the Scroll: History, Legend and Lore by Shiraz and Steve Criado (Book Review 201)

REALLY LIKED IT

Don't let the cover fool you, this is actually a really good action adventure story that will appeal to reluctant young male readers. I thought it was a perfect combination of fantasy and pirate adventure with characters that are likable. There is no graphic violence and should appeal to both kids and parents alike. I received this copy from the authors.

Please note that you will want to read the next one in the series. I hate it when a book leaves me hanging.

Product Description
Far away in the realm of Mythos, young princess Dara - entrusted with her father's magic scroll, the only hope for the realm - summons six heroes from different times and places to defend her from an evil entity that has broken free of its prison to darken the land. The six heroes are a hardened Roman legionnaire, a swift Japanese samurai, a mighty African warrior, a fiery Amazon archer, a spirited Shaolin monk, and Alex, a guitar-playing high school student. Now, constantly on the run from an army of Shadow Warriors, Dara and Alex must endure perilous journeys and face frightening monsters as they struggle to find the mysterious Hall of Shadows.
