FURday PhoDOGraphy Photo Bomb and a Story

So THIS happened.

It wasn't planned - you can see Schatze's missing teeth too!

Neither was this:

From my son after a stress filled day at his job in the music industry.

I'm stressed and tired in the elevator after work tonight and an elderly woman wearing a trippy outfit gets on the elevator and first thing she says is "are you having fun?" I respond back "ya, sure," thinking thats an odd way to start a conversation, and she goes "the one thing I have learned in all my years on this planet is that life is about fun," I go "ok I hear ya on that," and then she says "us meeting was supposed to happen tonight so I can tell you this: music will make you happier than anything else in this life, go listen to something, go play something, let music bring you joy in your life" and with that she got off the elevator and went off into the night.....never met this lady in my life, she knew nothing about me, wasn't wearing any band clothing, and says that.....I didn't know that was what I needed to hear tonight til this woman said it to me, so thank you, universe, for these random droppings of surreal sh!t you throw into life, it definitely keeps things interesting.

Giveaway Interview PAN'S CONQUEST by AUBRIE DIONNE @authoraubrie @covetbook

About the Book
Title: PAN’S CONQUEST
Author: Aubrie Dionne
EBook: 119 pages
Release Date: February 24, 2014
ISBN: 978-1622663460

Syrinx pulled a fast one on Pan to escape his raging lust. The God of Chastity wasn't about to break her vows and succumb to his temptations. Transported to the twenty-first century, she runs a florist shop—fulfilling her fake, mortal life. Until the breathtaking Parker Thomas hires her to decorate his grand estate for a gala. Five hundred roses? Easy enough. Except Parker makes her feel things she can't ignore...

As the God of Fertility, Pan is used to maidens flocking in droves to his pastures. So when Syrinx denies him, he's determined to win the one that got away. He poses as a mortal to get close to her, but he doesn't count on falling hard for his conquest—hard enough to make a life and stay.

But Syrinx is falling in love with a man that doesn't exist. Can Pan hide his identity forever, or will the truth tear them apart?

About Aubrie:

PLEASE WELCOME AUBRIE TO BOOKHOUNDS!

1. Do you have a secret talent?

Um…I’m good at Words with Friends- does that count?

2. Is there a song that really reminds you of your book?

My book is inspired by a song, actually. It’s a classical piece written by Debussy called Syrinx. You can listen to this really awesome flutist (principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic) play it on

You Tube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw53VrbI4l0

It is so mysterious with deep longing and melancholy. It also sounds very exotic. Every time I hear the solo, it takes me away to a far away place somewhere in primordial spring when cell phones and computers hadn’t been invented.

3. What was the easiest thing about writing this book?

I loved writing about the character, Pan. He’s mischievous, cunning, and crafty and loves to play games. His personality came right off the paper. He would have taken over every scene if I’d let him.

4. Is there a word you love to use?

Diaphanous. I love the way it sounds and I love what it means: light, delicate and translucent. But, it’s not a word I can use a lot because it’s not an everyday word that just pops out of your mouth. Oh, this light is so diaphanous….

5. Any real or imaginary pets?

I have a mini doxen named Jedi. He loves to go on walks and bark at kitties in the window! He doesn’t like my flute playing at all and whimpers when I play up high. Poor doggie! My writing is much more quiet!

Thank you for this wonderful interview!

Giveaway Interview BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU ARE DEAD by PATRICIA EIMER @patriciaeimer @EntangleEdge

BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD
Author: Patricia Eimer
EBook: 368 pages
Release Date: February 24, 2014
ISBN: 978-1622661183

Not Even Death Keeps
a Good Demoness Down

There’s never an end
to the crazy when you’re demon spawn. Not that Faith Bettincourt’s complaining.
She’s been patching things up with her angelic on-again off-again boyfriend,
Matt, and her best-friend-turned-sister-in-law is soon giving birth to the
Anti-Christ Part Deux. Oh, and Faith is saving kids from Death in her pediatric
unit one soul at a time. Life is good.

Until Faith
accidentally runs over the Angel of Death and is forced to take his place. Now
she’s taking lives instead of saving them. Which is kind of a problem when
you’re a nurse. As if that weren’t bad enough, she is suddenly thrust into the
worst scenario of them all--Matt’s ex Brenda is back, and she’s brought the
Apocalypse with her.

Faith’s not about to
give up the world...or her man. But when the chips are down, what’s a demoness
supposed to do? Besides take matters into her own hands, of course.

Book 1:  LUCK OF THE DEVIL and book 3:  BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD are 99 cents for a limited time on all eBook platforms!

About Patricia:
Patricia Eimer is a small-town girl fated to be a
storyteller. After a stint of "thinking practically," she earned
degrees in Business and Economics, but her passion has always been a good book.
She lives in Pittsburgh with her two kids and a husband who learned the art of
frozen pizza to give her more time to write. When she’s not writing she can be
found fencing or arguing with her dogs about plot points. Most days the beagle
wins, but the dalmatian is a close second. She’s a distant third.

PLEASE WELCOME PATRICIA TO BOOKHOUNDS!

1. Do you have a secret talent?

This is really weird but I can actually pick things up with my toes and I’m all of my friends secret weapon when it comes to pub quizzes. Once, just to prove a point they made me play by myself against 7 other teams and I still managed to win. The more useless and obscure the trivia the more likely I was to be able to answer the question. So yeah, Jeopardy call me!

2. Is there a song that really reminds you of your book?

Strangely enough Goodbye by Glenn Morrison really reminds me of Faith’s journey. Which is a total coincidence because I first turned this book in 18 months ago so the song wasn’t even out yet. But that idea of “I want you but we’ve been physically isolated from each other” is something that haunts her throughout this entire book.

3. What was the easiest thing about writing this book?

The Epilogue. I actually finished the book and then came back a week later once I’d gotten through my feelings on ending this series and how much things had changed for me since the first book (Luck of the Devil) which was my publishing debut and this book. Suddenly this epilogue just came to me and I wrote it in under an hour and when I finished I just sat there and stared at it and this feeling of completion just came over me because I felt like “okay, I can let these characters go now. I know they’ll be okay.”

4. Is there a word you love to use?

Anyway. My editor cut something like 300 Anyways from my manuscript and then I realized how much I used it when I talked and it’s become something of a joke. Every time I take a breath someone will say “anyways…” and everyone giggles.

5. Any real or imaginary pets?

Two shelter dogs—one is a hound/Labrador mix named Zupper who likes to lick my ankles while I write and a Dalmatian named Measles that thinks he’s a Chihuahua and constantly tries to climb in my lap. Especially if I’m eating while I type. FYI—Dalmatians love M&M’s but M&M’s do not love Dalmatians.

$25 Giveaway Excerpt THE MAKING OF NEBRASKA BROWN by LOUISE CAIOLA

Making Tour

The Making of Nebraska BrownThe Making of Nebraska Brown

The last thing eighteen-year-old Ann Leigh remembers is running from her boyfriend in a thick Nebraska cornfield. This morning she’s staring down a cool Italian sunrise, an entire continent from the life she once knew. The events of the eighteen months in between have inexplicably gone missing from her memory. All at once she’s living with Tommy, an attractive, young foreigner asking for her continued love. Though he’s vaguely familiar, she recalls a boy named Shane in America who she reluctantly agreed to marry. Juggling a new world while her old one is still M.I.A is difficult enough without the terrifying movie scenes spinning a dizzy loop in her mind: glimpses of a devastating house fire, a romance gone wrong, an unplanned pregnancy, and a fractured family – each claiming to be part of who she once was – a girl and a past somehow discarded. Ann Leigh must collect the pieces of herself to become whole again, but she doesn’t know who to trust especially when Tommy’s lies become too obvious to ignore. And above all, her heart aches to discover what became of the child she may or may not have given birth to. The Making of Nebraska Brown tells the story of one girl’s coming apart from the inside and the great lengths she’ll go to reclaim herself and find her way home

Amazon * Barnes & Noble * Kobo

Even though Tommy had showed me my passaporto—an official document issued by the Italian government—I still was uncertain. It said my full name. Ana Lisa Carcossi. And it was stamped in bright red ink that glared at me, too, the same way Tommy’s mini blinds did—important ink that defied my questions. Tommy had explained that he’d brought me with him once, to the states, on a business trip to the west coast. I wasn’t convinced. The replies were succinct. Sensible. Delivered with Tommy’s calm veneer. He was a lake before daybreak. It unnerved and relaxed me at the same time. He was hypnotic, his powers stretching into the late day hours when we would find ourselves sharing a pillow. I loved his breath when he fell out, no longer conscious, the way it reminded me I wasn’t alone. Wasn’t completely terrified underneath it all.Sixty minutes idled by, and I tore myself from the sheets, still balmy from the heat of our bodies. Those muffins were begging to be eaten. I slipped a short cotton bathrobe around my shoulders, brushed my teeth, and stared into the mirror above the bathroom sink.“Ann Leigh?” I asked my reflection. She refused to answer. She just stared back at me, looking young and helpless, a tiny pink sore at the corner of her top lip, her hair running loose, dark and wild. I was more Ana Lisa than I thought. More this muddled Italian/American who was sleeping with a rich Italian living in near-poverty.

$25 Giveaway Interview A REIGN SUPREME by RICHARD CRYSTAL @toobusyreading @rippercrystal

Reign Tour

Reign SupremeA Reign Supreme by Richard Crystal

When a copper deposit is discovered on the land of the Makenda tribe in eastern Kenya, a young king, Ule Samanga, is told to relocate his people to a refugee camp in Nairobi or risk imprisonment. When all appears lost, the young king discovers the existence of Curtis Jackson, a mysterious half-brother presently living in New York. Believing this unexpected news is an omen from the spirit of his ancestors, he eagerly seeks his help to save their sacred tribal homeland. A struggling mortgage broker and former jazz prodigy, Curtis initially has no interest in developing a relationship with his newly found African family. But when he’s presented with an intriguing business offer, he embarks on a journey to Africa that becomes a spiritual odyssey, changing him in ways he never imagined.

In this assured debut, Richard Crystal weaves a complex story of contemporary moral imperatives conceived during Obama’s victorious election as America’s first black President. Themes of corporate malfeasance and exploitation will resonate with readers of The Constant Gardener and Blood Diamond. But beyond the various political machinations, readers will find a heartwarming story infused with the strains of Coltrane, the history of jazz and the enduring power of family.

RichardRichard Crystal

Mr. Crystal has produced and written countless television shows and penned numerous screenplays for theatrical feature films in Hollywood. He has sung and produced four pop/jazz albums performing the classic standards he first heard as a young boy growing up in a house filled with music. A Reign Supreme is his first novel, inspired by a trip to South Africa and Botswana on his twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with his wife Fran.

Praise for A Reign Supreme:
“Mr. Crystal has fashioned a tale of virtue and vice in the modern world. It deals with corporate greed, the politics of today’s African economic scene and how they test the people who have to make their living in that environment. And it’s all backed by the mellow sounds of modern jazz. I’m sure it will intrigue all.”
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, legendary basketball star, author and jazz aficionado

“From the streets of New York to a remote tribal village in Kenya, A Reign Supreme is a moody, intriguing and emotional story. Our hero’s journey from teenage jazz prodigy, to a man haunted by his past, to accepting his surprising fate of heritage, is a terrific read.
I’m not just Richard Crystal’s brother, I’m his fan.”
- Billy Crystal, actor, comedian and writer

“As you read ‘A Reign Supreme’ you will wonder if the author is a jazz musician from the streets of New York or was raised in a village in Kenya. The language of the characters is perfect and real. The descriptions of locations are both factual and extremely visual. Richard Crystal takes you on an adventure involving family loyalty, greed, life changing decisions and much, much more. Something for everyone.”
- Lou Adler, award winning music and film producer, recently inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame

“John Coltrane constructed his four-part magnum opus A Love Supreme as a harmonic journey meant to convey an ascendancy to spiritual enlightenment—the musical statement of one man meant to inspire and uplift all. With deep appreciation for that inspirational source, Richard Crystal has been inspired to create a story in four sections that follows that same path to a personal awakening, a return to one’s roots, and realization of one’s purpose. A Reign Supreme is a rare example of a powerful literary work drawing its spirit from a timeless musical classic, with a deft, reverential touch that avoids cliche or overstatement.”
- Ashley Kahn, jazz historian and author of A Love Supreme: The Story of John Coltrane’s Signature Album and Kind of Blue – The Making of the Miles Davis Masterpiece.

“In “A Reign Supreme”, Richard Crystal creates a multi-dimensional experience for the reader such as I’ve rarely experienced. Besides creating a fascinating and suspenseful plot that keeps the reader turning pages and transports him or her to Kenya with details you can taste, hear and feel so well you would swear you were there, he has, through his own musical experience, created descriptions of jazz that enables the reader to actually hear the music. It’s extraordinary.”
- Andrew Neiderman, Author of The Devil’s Advocate and the worldwide V.C. Andrews literary franchise

PLEASE WELCOME RICHARD TO BOOKHOUNDS!

1. I guess you could say my secret talent is singing jazz. I started my career in the entertainment business as a singer/actor in New York. The writing career evolved as a way to express myself in between performing work.

2. The song that reminds me of "A Reign Supreme" is the Christian hymn "Amazing Grace." It is the song played by 16 year old Curtis Jackson at his high school music recital. The lyrics of the song ironically become his own personal life journey in the book.

3. Nothing was easy about writing this book. It took me three years to finish. However, I would have to say writing about jazz which has always been a love of my life and describing locations in New York where I lived for many wonderful years.

4. Whatever word comes to mind at the moment and communicates what I'm trying to say is the word I love. I'm easy.

5. My wife and I have had dogs for 25 years. Our favorite was a fawn colored saluki named Aja (which is the name of a character in the book as an homage)  Salukis are the oldest domesticated breed in the world. They emanate from Persia over 5000 years ago and are magnificent hunters reaching speeds up to 40 miles per hour. They are very aloof and cat-like in their independence. To me, they are like sharing your home with a piece of living art - that's how beautiful they are.

Giveaway Review ONCE IN A LIFETIME by JILL SHALVIS @JillShalvis @ForeverRomance

ONCE IN A LIFETIME by Jill Shalvis
SOMETIMES WRONG IS OH-SO-RIGHT
After a wrenching loss, Ben McDaniel tried to escape his grief by working in dangerous, war-torn places like Africa and the Middle East. Now he's back in his hometown and face-to-face with Aubrey Wellington, the hot-as-hell woman who is trouble with a capital T. Family and friends insist she's not the one to ease his pain, but Aubrey sparks an intense desire that gives Ben hope for the future.

Determined to right the wrongs of her past, Aubrey is working hard to make amends. But by far, the toughest challenge to her plan is sexy, brooding Ben - even though he has absolutely no idea what she's done . . .

Can this unlikely couple defy the odds and win over the little town of Lucky Harbor?

About the author:
New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis lives in a small town in the Sierras full of quirky characters. Any resemblance to the quirky characters in her books is, um, mostly coincidental. MY THOUGHTS
ABSOLUTLEY LOVED IT

Aubrey has survived a major scandal, lost her job and her boyfriend and has now taken over her aunt's bookstore in between the flower shop and bakery while trying to make a new life for herself.  She had a "reputation" as a teen, some of it deserve, some of it not.  She wanders into an AA meeting by accident and stays long enough to take in one of the steps that requires making amends to those you have wronged, so she starts a list.  On her list are several locals, that won't accept her apology but she is going to try until she succeeds.

Ben has lost his wife five years ago and has finally moved back to Lucky Harbor after travelling the world helping others. He is the golden boy of the area and no one wants to see him end up with Aubrey.  When her uncle hires Ben to renovate the book store, the two are in constant contact.  Ben sees through her "perfect" veneer and tries to find out if her wild reputation is actually based in fact.  Throw in some family issues, a town full of nosy neighbors and immense chemistry between the pair and you have a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.

I have no idea how Jill Shalvis does it.  I swear I am just going to read a chapter and then find myself three hours in without even noticing the time.  This series is just full of interesting characters and even thought the characters appears steadily in each book, you can easily pick up any one and read it in any order.  There is a perfect mix of dialogue, romance and chemistry that will make you tear through each one.
